December 31 Blog

Happy New Years from the Philippines! Today we had a vacation day which included the beach, the sun, lots of sunscreen, and fun activities that the resort has to offer. We started out our day by waking up to watch the sunrise, and some of us did some impromptu yoga at the beach. We were able to see the mountains across the bay get kissed with their first sunlight of the day which was breathtaking. Some decided to also walk along the beach to look at the different shells and found some sea glass the China Sea  decided to wash up. After the stroll on the beach in the early morning, we were served a variety of Filipino and continental breakfast which consist of fresh fruits, eggs, fish, local hotdogs, and an omelette kiosk. Our first stop was Sea Adventure. Some of us decided to get a fish pedicure, where these minow-sized fish nibble at your feet to rid the dead skin. The fish were called Doctor Fish (gurru raffa) and they really did do a good job. The first initial shock of having these little creatures biting your feet was relentless tickling. After a while, some were able to relax and enjoy, once we got over the little bites, it really was relaxing. The next thing we did was swim with the Dolphins. We were able to touch, kiss and watch the Dolphins do tricks. After the Dolphins, some of us were interested in laying on the beach and soaking in some sun while others went and did activities. Some went snorkeling, got massages, or just decided to swim in the water. Most of us got a little sun kissed from enjoying the nice weather. The resort had some live music playing which included a live rock band and a DJ for New Years Eve. Most of us started dancing with only on lookers, but by the end of the night we had some fellow resort stayers dancing along side us. There was a countdown to meet the New Year, the resort had a couple fireworks they lit off. Across the bay we were able to see fireworks everywhere lighting up the sky which made it seem very very festive. Overall, I believe we are all enjoying our stay here and are enjoying the sunshine. We wish everyone in America a very Happy New Year!!
